NHS MidLifeCheck launches for over 40 year olds
Service covers smoking, healthy eating, alcohol, physical activity and emotional wellbeing.

A new online service has been launched to give adults aged over 40 a lifestyle assessment service.

NHS MidLifeCheck is free, easy to use and covers topics including smoking, healthy eating, alcohol, physical activity and emotional wellbeing.

It tells the user what they are doing well and how making small changes can help them to improve their health and wellbeing in other areas and can help ‘mid-lifers’ to understand how their current lifestyle choices may affect their long-term wellbeing.

NHS MidLifeCheck is the third service from NHS LifeCheck, alongside NHS Baby LifeCheck aimed at parents and carers of five to eight month old babies and NHS Teen LifeCheck aimed at teenagers aged 12-15.

The tone and content of all the NHS LifeCheck services has been designed to appeal most to those people from socially disadvantaged communities.

To date, the Government has dedicated £5.8 million to embed the service in the designated 83 Communities For Health areas. Since going live last year NHS Teen LifeCheck has successfully attracted nearly 250,000 visits and NHS Baby LifeCheck has had over 136,000.

NHS MidLifeCheck is being supported and promoted in GPs surgeries, libraries, adult education centres, large employers, retailers and other locations throughout the country.

Using NHS MidLifeCheck can help support the delivery of a number of Public Service Agreement (PSA) targets, providing an important way for front-line services to achieve their goals and can support PSAs falling under the ‘better quality of life’ and ‘stronger communities’ categories.
