Minimise the risk of slipping accidents using the Surtronic Duo
Spectrum Metrology will be demonstrating how to quantify the ‘slip risk factor’ of your flooring at the Safety & Health Expo 2006 show (Hall 10, Stand L80) using the Surtronic Duo, a portable surface roughness instrument manufactured by Taylor Hobson. The instrument has seen a sharp increase in demand now that the Health & Safety Executive has launched its Slip Assessment Tool (SAT), software used for the assessment of slipping accident risk both in the workplace and in Local Authority controlled areas. Slips, trips and falls are the most common causes of serious injuries at work and employers are under increasing pressure to implement safety control methods to address this problem. The use of a surface roughness meter, used in conjunction with the materials available from the HSE, allow Health & Safety personnel to make an objective decision about the safety of their flooring. The Taylor Hobson Surtronic Duo has the versatility to assess a vast range of flooring materials in the workplace, such as vinyl, linoleum, quarry tiles, terrazzo, wood, epoxy, resin, screed and smooth concrete.
