EcoCooling
EcoCooling provides energy efficient cooling for hospital

EcoCooling evaporative cooling is an alternative to refrigeration based air conditioning and is used as part of a balanced ventilation system to cool buildings.  A typical EcoCooler, rated at 30KW, can reduce electricity costs by over £2000 and save 10,000kg of carbon over a year compared to an equivalent refrigeration based system.

At 25 per cent of the installation cost and just 15 per cent of the running costs of a traditional system a single EcoCooler can cool an area of up to 200sqm and is ideal for many health applications.

A typical hospital installation was recently completed at Burton upon Trent Health Trust. The out patients waiting areas, situated on the top floor, were built with no provision for either cooling or ventilation and consequently this led to very uncomfortable conditions. Two side discharge EcoCoolers, with sound attenuation, were installed as part of a balanced ventilation system.

As with all water based systems in hospitals a stringent Legionnaires’ disease risk assessment was performed. The combination of hygienic engineering, sophisticated process controls and comprehensive alarm functions provided sufficient assurance for what are probably the most rigorous standards in Europe.
