A recent trial at a leading NHS Foundation Trust compared bacterial loadings of two out-patient wards, one containing BioCote® protected furniture and equipment and a control ward containing standard, untreated items.
    
Results showed that the products protected with BioCote® harboured 95.8 per cent less bacteria, than the standard products in the control ward.  The products tested included waste bins, blinds, tiles, door handles and light switches.  
    
The trial results support a wealth of laboratory data to prove that BioCote® technology can reduce levels of bacteria in ‘real-life’ environments.  Products which harbour less bacteria help provide more hygienic and safer environments for patients. Fewer bacteria will reduce the risks of cross-contamination and consequently the risks of patients being infected with “superbugs” such as MRSA.
