Mondéco – tough, green and clean flooring
 The unique qualities of Flowcrete’s seamless terrazzo Mondéco combine high scores in the sustainability stakes, with the ultimate in hygiene performance. Key to it being ‘green’ is the system’s longevity. It is exceptionally hard-wearing and, once installed, can remain in place for decades, with very little maintenance required.
In fact, its long-lasting qualities mean it can stay in-situ when other shorter life-cycle floors have to be re-installed due to wear and tear. This avoids detriment to the environment in three key areas: the uplift, removal and disposal of the worn-out floor finish; the manufacturing procedure of new flooring; and even more preparation to repeat the installation.
Vital for healthcare is hygiene performance. Mondéco requires cleaning procedures with little concern to the environment, particularly as it is smooth, flat, seamless and sealed.
Mondéco can also be specified with the Polygiene® compound, which harnesses the natural power of silver to bring safety underfoot. A special additive in Polygiene® emits ions of silver, which control bacteria – including MRSA and C.diff - and the additive is locked into the floor finish.
Finally, after many years’ service, once Mondéco has finished its job, it can be removed as non-hazardous waste or even floored over – although due to the fact this type of finish has been around since ancient times, it is one system which continues to look good under pressure.
