New device monitors car park activity
Blue Wall’s Meter-Eye is a unique wireless device to monitor how long cars park in parking spaces and sends an alarm to enforcers that an overstay has occurred. Major UK retail chains are using the system to ensure that a “free parking time” is not abused and to prove if a car overstays. The system can be deployed in outdoor and multi-storey car parks and is deployed quickly using wireless detectors and antennas which communicate to a server which collates the data and history as well as to the parking enforcement operatives hand held terminal or a PDA. Meter-Eye can also operate driver information signage systems with LED signs indicating to drivers where there are free spaces. Another application on a large campus with many car parks with high demand is to provide drivers advance information as to what car parks are free. This can be achieved by SMS text messaging service where staff simply text the system and receive a text back on what car parks have free spaces. The Meter-Eye can be stuck or bolted to the surface or recessed into the surface and is deployed in minutes. The system batteries are proven to last for over 12 months and the system advises management months in advance of a low battery. The system is installed and serviced by Blue Wall MeterEye UK who launched the system at PARKEX last month.
