No risk of legionella from Carter Adiabatic coolers

ImageCarter has launched an Adiabatic Water Cooler, which has significant water reduction savings, and health and safety benefits over traditional cooling towers, including a zero risk of Legionella. Easy to maintain, requiring no water treatment and no potentially pathogenic bacteria-carrying aerosols, the Carter Adiabatic Water Cooler has foul-free coils, which maintain thermal efficiency and prolong its life because the coil surface remains completely dry.

Whole-life costs and energy efficiency are further enhanced as there is no need for filters or UV lamps, has low water consumption, with no water samples required, the Cooler is not subject to complex regulations.

During Dry Operation, the fans draw cooling air across the dry honeycomb pad and then the heat exchanger, cooling the process water running inside the coils with discharge air exiting the unit vertically. In Adiabatic Operation the honeycomb pad will be saturated. The fans draw the warmer air across the saturated pad, which cools the air by evaporation. The cooler air then crosses the coils, further cooling the process water. Surplus water is collected in a stainless steel collection tray and re-circulated back to the distribution header to mix with fresh mains water. To ensure there is no stagnancy, surplus water is drained daily.
