Infection Prevention 2018

Infection Prevention 2018 is now open for conference registration

The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is pleased to announce that registration for its annual conference, Infection Prevention 2018, is now open.

The conference will begin on the changed date of Sunday 30th September, and end on Tuesday 2nd October in the Scottish Event Campus, Glasgow.

Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) Coordinator, Karen Wares, comments: “This is an exciting and practice-enhancing conference that promises to educate, promote and inspire excellence in infection prevention and control in furtherance of the IPS mission statement: No person is harmed by a preventable infection. Thought-provokingly and in a departure from previous years we will present the first ever Infection Prevention Show which will provide a unique platform for showcasing the latest innovational technologies and products and encourage infection prevention professionals and industry partners to work more closely to future proof their organisations in ever increasingly challenging times.”

Over the last decade, the IPS has developed a reputation for an outstanding scientific programme; with a wide range of international and UK based speakers. Feedback from delegates in the past has positioned the IPS conference amongst the best in the world for the range and quality of educational and industry content. This year’s highlights include:

In 2018, we see many new innovative additions to the conference programme including the introduction of the Infection Prevention Show. The theme of the Show is 'Innovation and Partnership for Success' which aims to help healthcare professionals thrive in a drastically changing healthcare environment. The day will provide a platform to showcase the latest innovative technologies and products, and the audience will be able to interact with experts and personalities whilst learning about the exciting possibilities offered by these latest innovations. Highlights of the Show include a session from BBC Broadcaster, NHS Doctor, Private Eye Journalist and comedian, Dr Phil Hammond. Further key highlights of the Show include, a 'Pitch in Five' with companies presenting their technologies with delegates providing their feedback by voting on the conference app. Dr Jon Otter, Head of Operations at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust along with Dr Phil Hammond will be joining the event for 'Frank Conversations' to discuss contemporary issues in an informal setting.

The show is free and will be open from 10am - 4:30pm but will form part of the main conference programme between 10:30am - 1pm.

Further additions to this year’s conference include the brand new Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Resistance one-day conference on Tuesday 2nd October 2018 with sessions dedicated to this topic. This year will also see the return of the Infection Prevention in Care and at Home one-day conference which will be held on Sunday 30th September 2018.
