BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and Department of Health have created a project that provides patients with advice on how to look after their health and social care records
Patients will be able to choose which GP they register with under new government plans. That could mean patients using GPs where they work or keeping the same family doctor when they move.

According to a Freedom of Information Act request, between July 2008 and July 2011 there were at least 806 separate incidents where patient medical records were compromised.
