NHS Providers chief executive Daniel Elkeles has called on politicians to condemn racist attacks against NHS staff.

The call comes after recent reports of racist attacks against NHS staff.

Elkeles said: "I am horrified by reports of racial abuse being directed at healthcare workers, who are doing their best for patients and their local communities. The diversity of the NHS workforce is one of our biggest strengths.

"Politicians of every persuasion must call out and condemn this racism against our highly valued NHS staff."
